California Mom Wins Settlement after Suing School District that Transitioned her Daughter
August 31, 2023
Earlier this week, California mom Jessica Konen settled a case regarding her daughter, who was transitioned at school without her consent. The caseinvolving Spreckels Union School District in Monterey County has made national news and represents a landmark victory for parental rights. Jessica’s 11-year-old daughter, Alicia, was socially transitioned at school—told to use male pronouns and male bathrooms. When Jessica found out, she pressed charges against the school. Now that she has settled for $100,000 and Alicia has chosen to return to a female identity, Jessica is committed to continuing the fight for parental rights.
"I feel that parents should be involved… anything the child goes through, I think the parent should be involved," Jessica said. "It’s up to me, you know, to be able to guide her in that direction. That’s what my parental rights are."
