The Temecula Valley Unified School District, located in Southern California, voted on a resolution Tuesday banning Critical Race Theory from being taught in the district. Joseph Komrosky, the board’s newest member, wrote the resolution that achieved a 3-2 vote by the board in favor of it.
The resolution forbids district schools from teaching doctrines derived from CRT – such as the idea that an individual is inherently racist or sexist, is oppressed or an oppressor, or has inherent superiority because of his or her own race or sex. The resolution condemns racism and discrimination and argues CRT views racism incorrectly by saying prejudice is only racism when it is coupled with power.
